Durga Puja and Sharad Utsav
Greetings from the team.
Hope you and your loved ones are all safe, healthy and are managing to keep your spirits intact in the current situation.
This has been an unprecedented year till now, unlike any other in most of our lifetimes.
Please stay safe.
This is a note from Kallol to keep you informed about our decisions regarding Sharod Utsav/Autumn Festival 2020 in the current COVID-19 situation.
As we enter the month of September, our thoughts are around if and how the most important event of the Bengali calendar – Durga Pujo (which falls around end October) will be celebrated during this unique year.
At Kallol, we have been having several discussions over the past months about this, especially given the many unknown factors regarding the spread of the virus and related rules and regulations.
As a mature organization, we believe that the health and well-being of our Kallol family is of utmost importance. A celebration at Kallol would be incomplete without the full and unrestricted participation of all friends and members – young and elderly. Even with the rules and regulations, it will be very difficult to ensure full health and safety while celebrating with a large number of participants and maintaining the same freedom and spirit of the sarbojonin event that we have brought together for the last 10 years.
Therefore, in conclusion, we have decided to abstain from any face to face Durga Pujo celebration this year.
Ma Durga is in our hearts, hence let us pray to her from our homes this year without risking exposure in any gathering.
With the above decision in mind, we are exploring if and how we can still connect virtually during the Puja days to celebrate the spirit of togetherness and hope for a safer future.
I on behalf of the Kallol committee, would like to thank you for your understanding and wish you good health.
